Quick Lab Idea: Another Take on Free Fall
A unique setup for a stable fall

In our prior newsletter, we shared how to measure acceleration due to gravity using a smartphone dropped onto a suspended sheet. One of the biggest problems we encounter is how to stabilize the smartphone before being dropped, and then dropping it in such a way that it will fall with as little rotational component as possible. Check out this YouTube setup from Mikulas Domonkos in Hungary (with an optional slow motion camera) that results in some very clean data!
